The objective of the consultancy is to formulate radical and sustainable improvements to the present situation of the storm water network and aiming at reducing the disaster and health risks of refugees in Za’atari Camp for Syrian Refugees at Al-Mafraq. Zaatari Refugees camp (the study area) covers a plot of approximately 5,142 donum, where the project included designing the storm water drainage network of 25 km length pipes, and 55 km length channels, considering the integration with adjacent areas’ networks. The project also included environmental impact assessment to assess the current situation of environmental impacts, social health and environmental health at the Za’atari Refugee Camp, to provide perspective and identify practical options in order to facilitate the design and implementation of a new flood and storm water protection system.
