Rehabilitation of the water network in Naqab, Teachers Housing and Al Fakhoura/ Rusaifa City. to reduce Non-Revenue Water loss and improve customer water availability. The assignment was undertaken within the Oxfam AWANE project, in support of Jordanian communities hosting refugees (principally from the Syrian conflict) by addressing their need for efficient and adequate domestic water supplies and ensure equitability of supply, particularly for vulnerable groups. Within this assignment, the existing water supply situation was evaluated, from which recommendations for rehabilitation were made with supporting evidence and in line with best practice interventions.  Reduction of NRW due to physical losses (leakage) was a significant concern. Detailed design of all necessary works was prepared based on site surveys and current Jordanian and international standards, with supporting hydraulic modelling to the 25 years design horizon based on forecast population growth and associated residential development. Tender documents for Construction works were prepared according to FIDIC (Red Book 1999) format, and full support was provided to the Client during the Construction tendering, evaluation and Contract negotiation phases. Rehabilitation works in Naqab and Teacher Housing areas were completed, comprised of 10.5km main pipeline length (63mm – 180mm HDPE and 200-300mm DI Pipe), 10.8km of service connection lines, and replacing 1,117 customer water meters. The existing (redundant) water supply pipelines in Naqab and Teacher Housing areas were successfully disconnected from the remaining network. Rehabilitation of the water supply network in Fakhoura was not implemented due to limitations of available funding for construction.
