Preparation of the Feasibility Study and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for Zarqa Governorate Water System Restructuring and Rehabilitation to reduce water loss and supplying 600,000 inhabitants in total. The project was divided into two parts:
- The first part included an extensive study of the water network, reservoirs and pumping stations in which the determination of the necessary requirments for it’s rehabilitaion and the social and environmental impact assessment was done by:
- Gathering, reviewing and developing of base information, site survey using the (GIS) system and site investagation.
- Preparation of maps, charts, drawings,hydrlaulic analyses and modelling.
- Development of the investment master plan (IMP) for the water system.
- Support lead consultants in implementation of pilot leakage campaigns in the existing Zarqa distribution network.
- Preparation of the feasibility study of the project.
- Prepration of Environmental and social impact assessment studies including a resettelment action plan (RAP) and the environmental and social managment plan (ESMP) .
- Prepration of Environmental and social impact assesment (ESIA) detailed reports.
- The second part included preparation and providing technical support for the preliminary designs and preparation of the TOR specifications and tender documents for detailed design and construction in accordance to Design-Build basis, including:
- Construction of new water pipelines (300-600) mm diameter with a length of 26.5 km
- Construction of new water pipelines (40-180) mm diameter with a length of 395 km
- Replacement and rehabilitation of 40,000 m water pipelines, the existing tanks and the pumping stations.
- Installation of water meters in 32 sites.
- Construction of new water tanks and pumping stations with a capacity of 500 m3
Construction of house connections, valves and fittings.
