Attarat Power Plant is a planned oil shale-fuelled power plant in the Attarat Um Ghudran area near Karak. The planned Attarat power plant located at Um Al-Ghudran area south of Jordan; is an oil shale-fuelled power plant that will have 554 MW gross and 470 MW net capacities., and would consume 10 million tons of oil shale per year which will be provided from the nearby open-pit mine. The plant is expected to start operation by mid of 2020. When constructed, it will be the second largest oil shale-fired power plant in the world.
